Gaular municipality is located in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, with about 3 000 inhabitants. The administrative centre is the village of Sande.
Gaular has a strong tradition for farming, and the agricultural industry employs about 20 % of the municipality’s population. Other businesses, among others, are found in transportation.
The nature in the area is beautiful, with tall mountains and numerous waterfalls.
On 1 January 2020, the neighboring municipalities of Gaular, Førde, Naustdal and Jølster are scheduled to merge into one large municipality called Sunnfjord.
